About Crouch & Fitzgerald

Crouch & Fitzgerald was established in downtown Manhattan in 1839, in the days when only the rich traveled, and when finely crafted luggage was the order of the day. The store first became known for its custom-made luggage service when Franklin Delano Roosevelt commissioned a full set of leather luggage embossed with his initials.

Using only the finest leather, skilled craftsmen made these cases by hand- stitching selected hides on steel frames. Genuine Irish linen lined the inside of the cases. Solid leather straps were sewn to the base of the body, and shiny brass lever action locks completed the design.

Today, premier luggage brands such as Hartmann, Ghurka and Longchamp, as well as exclusive Crouch & Fitzgerald items, are offered at our Madison Avenue store. The superb, quality products are matched only by the first-class service provided by knowledgeable salespeople.

In May 2003, Crouch & Fitzgerald was bought by Gayle Martz, President of Sherpa's Pet Trading Company, a manufacturer high-end of pet carriers. Gayle's global vision compliments Crouch & Fitzgerald's distinguished luggage and leather goods from around the world for men and women. The introduction of The Sherpa Shop at Crouch & Fitzgerald now caters to the VIP pet, with coordinating bags for pets and people.

"It's the first concept store where travel accessories can be purchased for you and your pet. Our exclusive array of C&F and high-end brands make this store a unique place to shop," says Martz.
